Sometimes last year a report reached call a spade a spade from one Ms Esther.
She reported to be in search for a well renounced journalist and a presenter, well known in our community and ofcourse in the Diaspora. Since last year, call a spade a spade has being on the look out for this able and versatile presenter.
We requested for his contact from our colleagues in the industry both home and abroad and no one is yet to come up with his details up till present. Call a spade a spade is yet to locate this handsome, well read and educated presenter who happened to know the impart of his alleged offence.
Call a spade a spade is yet to find out his own side of the allegations. As much as call a spade a spade tried not to air the said allegations, pressures are mounting from all corners as the person concerned had reported the case to the police for investigation.
Ms Esther reported to have assisted the said presenter to get accommodation when he claimed not to have a place to sleep and he (presenter) claimed sleeping in borrowed car and sometimes wherever he could find as at that time.
Ms Esther also reported to have helped him to secure accommodation by renting from private estate agency in 2005. Also reported that he claimed to have being sent out by his wife and had his baggage and luggage in his car. She also said he lived in a travel lodge near the Black Wall tunnel by Canning Town.
Ms Esther claimed she got him a studio flat in Layton Stone High Road for £2,000.00 as her partner which he later paid back. She also said after some months, he stopped paying his rent and the rent owing to date is: £1,300.00.
Ms Esther also reported to have assisted him to get a Mercedes Benz car through finance for £15,000.00 but later approached NatWest Bank who took up the finance and was reduced to £12.000.00 instead of £15.000.00. She also got him Marks & Spencer store card where he owes £5,000.00.
Money Owing:
(1) Marks & Spencer - £5,000.00
(2) Virgin - £2,500.00
(3) Halifax - £1,500.00
(4) Barclays - £7,000.00
(5) BT landline - £777.00
(6) Abbey - £2,359.04
(7) NatWest Loan - £12,000.00
Total money owing: £35,000.00 without the interest.
Ms Esther reported him to have left the country for Nigeria since 12/06/2008 without any arrangement on how to settle all the above mentioned debts.
She reported NatWest Bank arranged for a meeting on how to recover the loan back before he left for Nigeria but he promised to return to London by 18/07/2008 but till the present moment, there has been no break light of this presenter.
She also reported him to have left the Mercedes Benz car packed in front of her house before leaving the country. She said all efforts to locate this man proved abortive. Therefore Ms Esther said she is now left to pay back all the debts.
Call a Spade questioned Ms Esther after all the allegations she made against the said presenter if there is a relationship or disagreement between them before he disappeared or she just wanted to blackmail him because of his popularity.
Ms Esther then replied that she only helped him because when she came to this country, she was apparently assisted by a yoruba person who doesn’t even knew her.
The Questions are:
(1) Do you think call a spade a spade should allow people to mention this person’s name Or not?
(2) Do you want call a spade a spade to wait as long as it takes to get his contact?
Send us your view.

Sis, U need to mention the person's name. It's no point telling us this story and making it annonymous. If not people will not believe your story again. THen its no more call a spade a spade.
ReplyDeleteHelp!! the listening page on the website is down...
ReplyDeleteThis guy should be named so that no one has to go through what this woman is going through again. This brother is a fraudster
Please mention the person name.
ReplyDeleteLanre Ijaola..Oba lola..Nasty Guy
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion & for the benefit of those nigerians in diaspora the said presenter is lounging in Nigeria with another woman
ReplyDeleteI dont believe this story, this kind of debt was not built in one day. What kind of job does Esther have to command such credit?
ReplyDeleteThe programm is called "call a spade a spade".
ReplyDeleteNamed the guys name. This might prompt the man to contact you.
You are doing a great job.
God blessed you.
Emi o ba so wipe ki lady yen gba hard lessons t'o ti learn from the experience and begin to fugure out how to pay this money. Iru mistake naa ni emi naa se and I'm now paying the debt! This of course does not rule out the fact that she may still recover her money but we all know that the creditors will not buy such stories but only want their money back. I wish her good success.
ReplyDeleteCulled from the Internet!!
ReplyDeleteLanre ijaola of BEN (TV) is a thief, fraudster and a 419er all business owners...
...beware!? I was defrauded last year by this fraudster he took the total sum of £2900 from me and never provided the media service which he claimed he was going to do. As a so-called "journalist" his low level of English is a clear indication of his pronunciation defect. I should have know better because he permanently smelt of rotten meat and strong body odour and the state f his teeth was an apology to say the least.
Despite the numerous calls and complains from both myself and other business owners he has been kept on by BEN TV who know and advocate his fraudulent ways.
Mr Lanre Ijaola is part of the BEN TV BBS crew presently on channel 194(although we never know when next they will go off for none payment of their sky license.
Please do not fall victim to his fraudulent ways
Hello Aunty Anike, can I say that you are a very beautiful woman. Keep up the good work. Olorun a ma bayin se o. I think Nigerian Government should think about making you an ambassador. Take care of yourself and keep the flag flying
ReplyDeletePray hard and read our bible always, The Lord is your strength.
Olapeju
There is nothing bad in doing favour to our fellow brothers and sisters but, when this woman got him a place to stay, what prompt her to go out of her way again to get him all this credit card and not to talk of that expensive car? This guy told her he does not have a job, how does he want him to pay this money back when she was going for all this loans and credit card?
ReplyDeleteAll this lady should have done if she wants to help this guy and herself is to rent him a place and if he needs a car to work, she should have gotten him a nice maximum of £1000 car.
If this woman is my sister, I will tell her off for being so foolish and stupid. This kind of woman really send money to her family in Nigeria. Because of what she want to get from or what she is getting from this guy( woman friend of a tv presenter) She forget herself and was used. She should not fool anybody she is befriending this guy.
Look for a good charitable organisation in Nigeria like the orphanage and sponsor a child there if you want to do good.
Unfortunately Ms Esther told a few lies. "iso kinkini lo nba idi je". Lanre left London on 28 June 2008 not 12 June. Unless he told her a lie, he was still living with his wife in 2005, their last child was born in November 2006! but seeing that the guy is a MAJOR fraudster, he probably lied to Ms Esther. When did she help him get the Benz? What happened to the car that he allegedly had his luggage and baggage in? He drove a Saab till October 2006!
ReplyDeleteHe is not that hard to locate, he lives with Nneka his new wife at Abiola Crescent, Ikeja. He has been representing BEN in Nigeria, IF Ms Esther REALLY has a case with the police, she should just tell them to go and ask Alistair, they were together in October, giving awards to people in Nigeria, it is in the newspapers. Unfortunately, I dont think there is anything the police can do to him in Nigeria, where he will be for the forseeable future, as to the best of my knowledge, his discretionary leave to remain expired in July 2008 and I do not think his wife will renew it for him seeing that he left her to go and marry another woman in Nigeria, without warning!
Unfortunately, I did not listen to the programme last night, so I can not comment too much on the things that were said, Lanre had too many women who believed they were his wife BUT the only one that is recognised by the whole clan, that is the one the head of the clan actually went to ask for her hand in marriage from her family, the one that pulled ALL strings to stop him from being deported and got him his stay in the UK, whom he still referred to as his wife on the Breakfast Show of 24 June 2008 as his wife, is well, alive and kicking, DEFINITELY NOT IN A PSYCHIATRIST HOSPITAL.
I do not think Esther is Ms Esther real name, even though her real name does start with an E, if it is WHO I think it is. He is her husband's friend, he has already been expelled from the club they were in together because of all these fraud allegations from different women.
I wish you guys all the best.
Hello Aunty Abike and thanks for your good job always. About Lanre Ijaola and Ms Esther, I think the Woman has still a lot she hid from us all. As a psychologist, I did not buy most part of her story. It just did not follow natural route of human endeavour but for certain she was duped by this guy. But to say she did it just based on her good and samaritan nature, I think that should be meant for the marines. Natural route of human endeavour is selfish and when it will be selfless there is definitely a quick and early check to it. This is only possible if the £35000 was at a go. This is purely professional with no sentiment intended.
ReplyDeleteI am really disappointed in dis guy cos we were very close, but was never straight forward with me.
ReplyDeletewell for miss Esther am really sorry, but if you see him be lucky but advice is for you to go to Nigeria and look for him.
It takes two to tango.A Yoruba adage says only a thief will be able to identify another thief's footprint on a rock, and there is nothing as a free lunch.Esther's story sounds too good to be 100% true, and as she is desperate to go out with a "star",no wonder she got stung. This lady has got more money than sense. As for Ijaola i wouldn't touch him with a bargepole, because he has got previous(bad reputation).
ReplyDeleteA word is enough for the wise.
Aunty Abike, There is more to this story. I have read Esther's story and it's all lies. There are questions she need to answer. First, about the car and secondly, about all those credit cards.I did listen to the programm on sunday and I kept on shaken my head. If this topic comes up again this coming sunday, I will phone in for more questioning. In the mean rest my case? Please do you realise this is a CIVIL case?
ReplyDeleteI believe you are doing a fantastic job with the different stories and folk tales you present to entertain us (your audience) on Sundays.
ReplyDeleteBut if you want the programme to stand up to its name (call a spade a spade), contributors/callers should please be more concised and factual in their contributions or what their are saying, in other for us to learn from one another instead of them coming on the air to start raining abuses and curses on people?
This I called low intelligent people who discuss person instead of issues at hand. Please tell them that there is nothing to gain from their rants and curses. We are in 'ilu- oyinbo' for christ sake. Why can't people be civil, courtly and polished in their use of words to their fellow Nigerians.
One of the reasons Nigeria is not moving forward is because many so called educated Nigerians cannot use their analythical mind of reasoning to approach issues. You tell a fable to an educated Nigerian and he or she will jump into final conclusion without reasoning...too bad!
I will implore you to please make the programme more educative and didactic by telling some contributors/callers to please have decorum when on the air...as we don't know who else is listening!
Thanks for a nice programme,it will be difficult to trace to Lanre,His Gang at the Nigerian restaurant opposite the fire brigade on Hommerton high street knows where and how to get him,to him "Omo setan omo ti lo sile".
ReplyDeleteIt is a pity that Lanre Ijaola refused to contact u but was able to phone live from Abuja today (18/03/09)on BEN tv making comments about the the REBRANDING NIGERIA programme that took place yesterday in NIGERIA.
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious that BEN TV knows how to contact him if they are willing to help.
This is a sad story,I pray that this guy is caught ASAP and be purnished appropiately.
Good luck.
This is shameful, dissapointing, unbeleivable and tarnishing the reputations of Nigerians in diaspora and BEN in particular if he phoned from Abuja today 18 March 2008
ReplyDeleteThis is a conman...419 proper, must not get away
ReplyDeletewith it.I only hope that people can learn from
a situation like this.If you call this a friend
what is the enemy going to look like?.
Your Tribal programme lacked national outlook though English title, though this medium resolved that, The yoruba musicians can help to nail him within their OWAMBE ARENA
